In an environment where data regulation, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly demanding, European organizations face the challenge of integrating complex regulations into their daily operations without compromising their ability to innovate. Have you ever thought about how difficult it is for companies to comply with all the laws regarding data and technology?
To address this challenge, the following initiative has been launched AIConform, a strategic project co-funded by the European Union through the Digital Europe program.
The kickoff took place last Tuesday, June 16, in Athens, where we held the Kick-off Meeting for this ambitious European project, which has a clear goal: to simplify administrative procedures and processes, as well as to facilitate regulatory compliance management through Artificial Intelligence.
What is the project about?
AIConform is developing an advanced platform designed to transform the legal obligations of demanding regulatory frameworks—such as the AI Act, the NIS2 Directive, and the GDPR—into technical rules that can be enforced automatically. Using Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing (NLP), the system is capable of analyzing complex legislative texts and enabling companies to comply with regulations in an agile, secure, and transparent manner.
Essentially, it functions as a “smart translator” for laws, using advanced AI to automate and ensure regulatory compliance, drastically reducing administrative burdens and the margin for human error.
To demonstrate its effectiveness, the project will be tested in three strategic sectors: Public Administration, Industry, and Energy.
Objectives of the AIConform Project
- Operational Efficiency: Reduce the administrative burden associated with regulatory compliance tasks by 30%.
- Risk Reduction: Reduce human errors in incident reporting and reporting to the relevant authorities by 25%.
- Guarantee of Trust: Ensure that technology and AI systems are robust, protect citizens' privacy, and scrupulously respect fundamental rights.
A team united across Europe
To make this possible, the consortium brings together 14 strategic partners who are collaborating closely from six key countries: Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Germany, and Austria. With a total investment of €6,206,053—of which the European Union is contributing €3,103,026 through the Digital Europe program—this initiative will run for 24 months, having begun last June and scheduled to conclude at the end of May 2028.
